Alberto Alessi est né en 1946, à Arona dans la province de Novare.
Il est président de la compagnie de design éponyme, responsable du marketing stratégique, de la communication et du management design.
Fils aîné de Carlo et premier descendant de la troisième génération Alessi, il obtient sa licence en droit à l’université catholique de Milan puis fait son entrée au sein de l’entreprise, où il est nommé responsable commercial des nouveaux produits et de la communication.
A partir de 1970, il collabore activement avec de nombreux architectes et designers du monde entier, plaçant la société Alessi parmi les grands noms du design international.
Il est l’auteur de plusieurs publications, parmi lesquelles:
«La Cintura di Orione. Histoire, technique et usage des récipients métalliques destinés à la cuisson pour la Grande Cuisine» (Longanesi, Milan, 1987); «Not in production/Next in production», (Alessi, Crusinallo, 1988) et «L’Usine à Rêves» ( Electa, Milan, 1998).
En 2011, Alberto Alessi est chargé de l’exposition «Les usines de rêves. Hommes, idées, entreprises et paradoxes des usines de design italien » pour la IVème édition de la Triennale du Musée du Design de Milan.
Il écrit des articles sur le design pour diverses revues et publications internationales et se rend de temps en temps dans des écoles de design en qualité de professeur invité.
A côté du management design, il s’occupe aujourd’hui de la production de ses vins biodynamiques de haute qualité « La Signora Eugenia e il passero solitario ».
