Sir David Reid est président de Intertek Group plc, un groupe multinational de certification et d’inspection de produits, coté au London Stock Exchange parmi le secteur des services de support du FTSE 100. Le groupe dispose d’un réseau de plus de 35 000 employés dans cent pays différents et est leader mondial dans son domaine. Intertek aide les plus grandes marques et entreprises à augmenter la qualité, la sécurité, la performance, et l’impact environnemental et social de leurs produits, procédures et actifs. En 2011, il est nommé au sein du conseil d’administration et devient président en janvier 2012.
En Novembre 2011, Sir David Reid se retire de sa position de président non-exécutif de Tesco PLC qu’il avait commencé à occuper en Avril 2004. Avant cela, il était président du conseil d’administration de Tesco depuis 1985. En Février 2012, il est nommé membre du comité consultatif senior de Jefferies International, un groupe de sécurité et d’investissement global. En 2008, il est nommé président de l’association caritative Whizz-Kidz qui fournit du matériel de mobilité pour les enfants handicapés. Il est aussi parrain de Restless Development, une agence de développement international dirigée par des jeunes.
Sir David Reid est ancien président du Kwik-Fit Group Ltd, ancien directeur non-exécutif de Reed Elsevier Group PLC, ancien directeur non-exécutif de Greenalis Group Plc (maintenant De Vere Group), de Legal & General Group Plc et Westbury plc.
En novembre 2010, il devient l’un des ambassadeurs d’affaires du premier ministre David Cameron.
Né en Zambie et éduqué en Ecosse, il est membre de l’Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. Il vit désormais dans le comté d’Essex. Sir David Reid est un golfeur et président du London Scottish Rugby Club.
