Né en 1963, Michel Podolak étudie l’écriture, l’analyse et l’orchestration au Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (avec notamment Serge Nigg et Claude Ballif) et obtient trois premiers prix. Parallèlement, il a le privilège de travailler la direction d’orchestre avec de grands maîtres, tout particulièrement Jean Fournet et Charles Bruck (à l’école Pierre Monteux, aux Etats-Unis).
Bien au-delà de la technique, ils lui enseignent le respect de la musique et des musiciens, comment vivre une œuvre, lui donner du style… Michel Podolak se perfectionne aussi en suivant les master-classes de Pierre Dervaux, Manuel Rosenthal, Ferdinand Leitner (Mozarteum, Salzbourg).
En 1991, il est lauréat de la Fondation Menuhin. Directeur artistique de l’Orchestre Paris-Rive Droite de 1983 à 1992, de l’Orchestre de Jeunes Alfred Loewenguth de 1984 à 1989, il explore un répertoire allant de l’époque baroque à nos jours (Decoust, Macias, Hersant…). Dans le domaine lyrique, il travaille à l’Opéra de Nice en 1991 dans la production des « Noces de Figaro’, et de décembre 1994 à avril 1995 comme chef des chœurs du Grand Théâtre de Tours et chef assistant.
Depuis 1991, Michel Podolák a fait de nombreuses conférences en entreprises ou dans des grandes écoles comme HEC (MBA Europe, MBA Chine … ). Ses thèmes principaux sont le management et le «travailler ensemble» (comment fonctionne un orchestre, comment peut-on améliorer un résultat collectif).
