Steve Wozniak est un ingénieur en informatique américain qui a co-fondé la société « Apple Computer » (depuis renommé « Apple Inc. ») avec Steve Jobs. Icône de la Silicon Valley et philanthrope depuis plus de trente ans, Steve Wozniak a contribué à façonner le monde de la tech en concevant la première gamme de produits Apple, Apple I et II, et en participant à la création du célèbre Macintosh.
En 1976, Steve Wozniak et Steve Jobs ont fondé « Apple Computer Inc. » avec l’ordinateur personnel Apple I de Wozniak. L’année suivante, Steve présente son ordinateur personnel Apple II, doté d’une unité centrale, d’un clavier, de graphismes en couleur et d’un lecteur de disquettes. Apple II a joué un rôle essentiel dans le lancement de l’industrie des ordinateurs personnels. En 1981, Steve Wozniak est retourné à l’Université de Berkeley pour terminer ses études en génie électrique et informatique. Steve a reçu en 1985 la Médaille Nationale de la Technologie pour ses réalisations chez Apple Computer décernée par le président des États-Unis, soit la plus haute distinction décernée aux inventeurs en Amérique.
En 2000, il est intronisé au « Inventors Hall of Fame » et reçoit le prestigieux « Heinz Award for Technology, Economy and Employment » pour avoir conçu à lui seul le premier ordinateur personnel. Au fil des années, Steve Wozniak s’est impliqué auprès de diverses initiatives business et philanthropiques, en se consacrant principalement à l’enseignement de l’informatique dans les écoles via la pratique et en encourageant la créativité des étudiants.
Investissant beaucoup de son temps et mais aussi de ressources dans l’éducation, Steve Wozniak a sélectionné le « Los Gatos School District » afin d’offrir aux étudiants et aux enseignants un enseignement pratique et de faire don d’équipements technologiques de pointe. Il a fondé la « Electronic Frontier Foundation » et a été le sponsor et parrain du « Tech Museum », du « Silicon Valley Ballet » et du « Children’s Discovery Museum » de San Jose. Steve Wozniak est actuellement Scientifique en chef chez « Fusion-IO ». Également auteur, il a publié son autobiographie « iWoz: From Computer Geek to Cult Icon », parue en septembre 2006 aux éditions Norton Publishing.
