Wolfgang Wahlster est le PDG du Centre de recherches allemand sur l’intelligence artificielle (DFKI) et est professeur en sciences informatiques à l’Université de Saarland.
Il a publié plus de 200 contributions techniques et 12 livres en modélisation de l’utilisateur, systèmes de dialogues parlés, interfaces d’utilisateurs mobiles et multi-modales, le web sémantique ainsi que l’internet des objets et des services.
En 2001, le président allemand lui remet le « German Futur Prize » pour son travail sur les interfaces d’utilisateurs intelligentes, la plus haute distinction scientifique d’Allemagne.
Il est élu membre étranger de l’Académie Royale Suédois du Prix Nobel des Sciences de Stockholm et membre plénier de l’Académie nationale des sciences allemandes Leopoldina fondée en 1652.
Il est membre des conseils exécutifs de l’Institut International des sciences de l’informatique de l’Université de Berkeley et de l’EIT Digital. Il est rédacteur en chef de la série LNAI de Springer et fait partie de conseil éditorial de plusieurs revues spécialisées. En 2013, Wahlster reçoit le prix IJCAI Donald E.
