Baudouin Prot est PDG et Administrateur de BNP Paribas de 2003 à 2014. Durant son mandat, il fait deux acquisitions déterminantes pour la transformation de la banque, historiquement franco-française, en une vraie puissance européenne: BNL en Italie et Fortis en Belgique et au Luxembourg. Cela permet à la banque de survivre à la crise financière et fait de M. Prot un expert en gestion de crise. En effet, lorsque la BNP est frappée par la crise financière de 2007, la banque n’avait eu aucune exposition aux marchés américains des subprimes, ce qui illustre sa solide culture du risque. Lors de la crise, M.Prot gère les relations et la communication entre les différents acteurs de la banque: les clients, les employés mais aussi les régulateurs du monde entier. Au coeur de la crise, il est le seul PDG en Europe à s’engager dans une importante opération d’acquisition.
M. Prot est toujours en train de promouvoir les dernières avancées technologiques. Entre 1997 et 2000, BNP est la première banque en Europe à investir largement dans la technologie, les centres d’appels, la formation et le déploiement afin de créer une plateforme multicanale et interconnectée en temps réel pour servir les clients. A ce jour, BNP Paribas est considéré comme un modèle à suivre en Europe et au-delà.
