La passion d’Erik Decamp pour la montagne lui est venue en 1972, à l’âge de 18 ans. A cette époque, il était encore étudiant à l’Ecole Polytechnique à Paris.
En même temps qu’il obtient son diplôme de l’X en 1975, il devient guide de haute montagne. Depuis, il a suivi ses deux vocations, mais a passé plus de temps en montagne que dans un bureau !
Jeune guide, il est devenu très vite professeur à l’Ecole Nationale de Ski et d’Alpinisme à Chamonix, et enseigne le métier à de futurs guides. Après quelques années, il décide à nouveau de tracer son propre itinéraire professionnel, en étant à la fois consultant scientifique et alpiniste professionnel.
Depuis 1982, il réalise plus de 15 expéditions, la plupart dans l’Himalaya, parfois comme guide et parfois pour des ascensions de haut niveau. Que ce soit au sommet de l’Everest, sur la face nord du Jannu, la face sud de l’Aconcagua, ou avec des clients sur des sommets plus simples, ces montagnes l’attirent toujours autant.
Aujourd’hui, guidé par la synergie entre ses deux passions, il propose des conférences, des séminaires et des formations pour les entreprises. Sa ambition est de leur faire découvrir un monde fascinant qui peut enrichir leur propre expérience et les faire progresser.
Erik s’adresse aux entreprises, aux équipes et aux personnes, pour transmettre cette expérience et en faire une source de progrès. L’alpinisme est riche d’enseignements pertinents pour la vie personnelle et professionnelle. Il est aussi photographe et auteur de quelques livres et articles.
