Ian Goldin est professeur en « Mondialisation et Développement » à l’Université d’Oxford. De 2006 à 2016, il a été le directeur fondateur de l’Oxford Martin School, rattachée à l’Université d’Oxford.
Il dirige actuellement les programmes de recherche de l’Oxford Martin School sur les grands changements technologiques et économiques, le futur du travail et le futur du développement. De 2001 à 2006, Ian Goldin a été vice-président de la Banque mondiale et représentant spécial aux Nations unies.
De 1996 à 2001, il a été conseiller économique du président Nelson Mandela et directeur général de la Banque de développement de l’Afrique australe (DBSA).
Auparavant, Ian Goldin a été économiste en chef à la BERD et directeur des programmes du Centre de développement de l’OCDE. Il est titulaire d’un Master en sciences de la London School of Economics, ainsi que d’un Master et d’un doctorat de l’Université d’Oxford.
Il a été fait chevalier par le gouvernement français et a reçu de nombreux prix. Il a publié à ce jour plus de 60 articles et 25 livres.
