John Cleese est célèbre pour être l’un des membres fondateurs de la célèbre troupe d’humoristes des Monty Python, connue pour sa série télévisée « Monty Python’s Flying Circus ». Il a également été le scénariste et l’acteur principal de la comédie télévisée populaire Fawlty Towers.
John Cleese a étudié le droit à l’Université de Cambridge, où il rencontre Graeme Chapman, son futur coéquipier dans l’aventure des Monty Python. Au cours des années 60, il a été scénariste pour un certain nombre de programmes télévisés et radiophoniques de la BBC, dont le célèbre « Frost Report », présenté par David Frost.
La comédie télévisée « Monty Python’s Flying Circus » a été diffusée de 1969 à 1974 sur la BBC. Les épisodes ont été écrits et interprétés par John Cleese, aux côtés des autres membres de la célèbre troupe : Michael Palin, Eric Idle, Graeme Chapman, Terry Jones et Terry Gilliam.
