Biographie

Hashi Mohamed est l’un des principaux avocats juniors au Royaume-Uni, mais également un journaliste à la BBC et un auteur. Il a été admis au Barreau (The Honorable Society of Lincoln’s Inn) en 2010. Il exerce aujourd’hui le droit public au No5 Chambers avec un accent particulier sur les lois environnementales. Mohamed présente des documentaires sur BBC Radio 4, dont un récent reportage sur l’enquête 20 ans après le meurtre de Stephen Lawrence, et des documentaires sur l’accès aux professions les plus élitistes.

Né dans une fratrie de 12 enfants et d’une mère analphabète, le père de Mohamed est décédé alors qu’il n’avait que 9 ans. L’été 1993, il arrive au Royaume-Uni du Kenya en tant qu’enfant réfugié non accompagné. À son arrivée, il parle un anglais sommaire, fréquente des écoles en échec et vit exclusivement grâce aux aides de l’État dans une zone défavorisée située au nord-ouest de Londres. Aujourd’hui, il est également un auteur à succès, ayant fréquenté l’Université d’Oxford pour son diplôme de troisième cycle et une école de droit, entièrement financés grâce aux bourses.
