Après ses études, Peggy est nommée ingénieure financier export chez Alcatel à Paris. En parallèle germe son projet de traverser l’Atlantique à la rame en solitaire, exploit jamais réalisé par une femme. Avec opiniâtreté, elle recherche des sponsors, quitte Alcatel pour effectuer des stages météo, radio…, étudie les meilleurs choix de bateau, de route, d’équipe et effectue une traversée de l’Atlantique à la voile en équipage. En janvier 1998, elle créait sa société destinée à l’organisation de son Aventure. Le 10 mars 1998, c’est enfin le départ des Canaries, direction les Antilles. Après 5500 km, seule sur l’océan durant 79 jours en ramant plus de 10 heures par jour, elle approche enfin de son but mais la mer se démonte et le rêve se transforme en cauchemar. Peggy fait naufrage la veille de son arrivée, à 110 km de la Guadeloupe. 9 heures durant, en survie, elle reste agrippée à son bateau qui s’enfonce inexorablement, elle est sauvée in extremis.
Victoire inachevée, mais fidèle à sa devise » Oser toujours, céder parfois, renoncer jamais « , Peggy ne s’avoue pas vaincue et reste la pionnière en démontrant qu’une femme pouvait réaliser un tel exploit. 18 mois plus tard, plus déterminée que jamais, elle repart du Cap Vert et arrive victorieuse en Martinique le 5 janvier 2000.
Après cet exploit, Peggy gère ses sociétés, parcourt la France et l’Europe pour animer de nombreuses conférences, séminaires et participer à des émissions de télévision où sa liberté de ton, sa simplicité et sa force de caractère séduisent des publics très différents.
