Rob Pope est surnommé le « vrai Forrest Gump ».

Quand on pense à courir sur une très longue distance, il n’y a qu’une seule référence possible : Forrest Gump. Pour honorer la promesse faite à sa mère de « faire une chose dans sa vie qui fasse la différence », il a décidé de tenter de réaliser la plus longue course à pied de l’histoire des États-Unis. 25 121 km, 43 États, 422 jours et 33 paires de chaussures plus tard, Rob est rentré chez lui, les pieds pratiquement intacts.

Rob détient deux records du monde, a été champion d’Australie du marathon masculin en 2015 et nommé meilleur coureur d’Europe du Nord à l’occasion du Marathon des Sables, la course dans le désert la plus difficile au monde. Il est également le premier à avoir traversé l’Irlande à pied en une journée.

Père d’une petite fille et vétérinaire, Rob Pope a relaté son histoire dans le best-seller « Becoming Forrest » (éditions Harper Collins). Il est l’animateur du podcast « How to be Superhuman ».
