Sigmar Gabriel a été nommé ministre des Affaires étrangères en Allemagne de 2017 à 2018 et Vice-Chancelier allemand de 2013 à 2018.
Né à Goslar en 1959, Sigmar Gabriel a étudié la politique, la sociologie et l’allemand à l’Université de Göttingen. En 1987, il a réussi le deuxième examen d’État en tant que professeur de lycée et a travaillé comme enseignant dans la formation professionnelle des adultes jusqu’en 1990.
En 1977, Gabriel est devenu membre du Parti social-démocrate d’Allemagne et en a été le président de 2009 à 2017.
À la suite d’une succession de postes différents au sein de son parti en Basse-Saxe, Sigmar Gabriel a été nommé Premier ministre de l’État de Basse-Saxe de 1999 à 2003.
De 2005 à 2009, il a été nommé ministre fédéral de l’Environnement et de 2013 à 2017, Sigmar Gabriel a été nommé ministre fédéral des Affaires Économiques et de l’Énergie.
Il a été Vice-Chancelier de l’Allemagne de 2013 à 2018 et ministre allemand des Affaires étrangères de 2017 à 2018.
Sigmar Gabriel est président de l’Atlantik-Brücke e.V., membre de la Commission trilatérale et du Conseil européen des relations étrangères. Il est également membre du conseil d’administration de l’International Crisis Group et du conseil consultatif de Deloitte.
