Beatrice Weder di Mauro est reconnue en tant qu’autorité mondiale en matière de politique économique en raison de son travail avec plusieurs grandes institutions internationales. Elle est actuellement professeur d’économie à l’Institut de hautes études internationales et du développement de Genève, Distinguished Fellow à l’Emerging Markets Institute de l’INSEAD de Singapour et Senior Fellow au Centre pour l’innovation dans la gouvernance internationale. Elle est également professeur d’économie à l’Université de Mayence.
En juin 2004, elle a été nommée conseillère économique auprès du gouvernement allemand, pour accompagner le gouvernement dans la définition de la politique économique et le développement économique. Jusqu’à son départ du conseil en 2012, elle a été la première femme et la première non-Allemande à occuper ce poste.
